A Minor North East Girl gets Justice as Gurgaon Police Acts after a month New Delhi, January 26, 2008
A dawning of justice finally breaks up for a minor north east girl who was molested by her landlord three times in December last year. Gurgaon Police had to wait for a month to arrest culprit.
Assistant Sub-Inspector from Complaint branch of Commission Police Gurgaon informed to North East Support Centre & Helpline yesterday about the accused being arrested on January 14 and asked the victim to report to the Commissioner Police.
A case was initially refused by DLF Police station when North East Support Centre & Helpline team along with victim went to lodge complaint. Police Duty Officer pretended of taking the complaint for two and half hour till 7 PM on December 12. Meanwhile group of 20, believed to be the members of the accused, came to the police station and threatened not to lodge the complaint. Latter case was registered after NE Helpline team left the police station.
On December, NE Helpline team led by Dr. John Dayal – Member of National Integration Council (GOI) along with victim met Gurgaon Assistant Commissioner Police and Commissioner Police and made a formal complaint. Both the police officers assured to book the culprit and copy of FIR was obtained from Gurgaon police station.
When Gurgaon Police did not perform its duty to protect the north east minor girl, NE Helpline approached “Mission Safer India” a new initiative by former IPS Office Kiran Bedi on January 13, who further wrote to Director General Police Haryana to look into the matter.
NE Helpline strongly felt that the sudden call from Commissioner Police Gurgaon was reaction to the CNN IBN’s Citizen Journalist went to find out the process of the case on January 25 morning.
The victim was molested three times by house owner on December 2, 9 and 11 and victim along with her sister and brother was thrown out on December 12 midnight when landlord failed to meet his whim. The victim and her sister and brother are still in trauma suffering.
