To Whom It May Concern:

A Special Appeal for Financial Help

North East Support Centre & Helpline would like to thank to those groups and individuals, who have extended financial help toward the medical treatment of Mr. Bobocha’s wife, Sumobala, whose brain was damaged due to the stroke.

A fact finding team of North East Support Centre & Helpline visited the couple to stocked condition and found it as pathetic situation of the couple with two kids in a congested rented room in Murnikar, New Delhi.

Bobocha and two little kids live in a hope for Sumobala to regain a normal life. That could only be possible, if they could afford to purchase medicines prescribed by Doctor. The prescribed medicines cost almost Rs 2000 per day, which is needed for first few months. Thereafter, Doctors will change the medicine, which might be lesser amount. Every two week, medical checkup is required and Bobocha could take his wife for last two weeks due to the lack of money.

The incident happened when Sumobala and his mother were alone at home along with two little kids on March 1, 2008 and Bobocha went to near by market. On his return, found Sumobala lying on floor unconscious. With the help of students from Manipur living in nearby rented homes, Sumobala was taken to Safdarjung Hospital at around 10 AM. CT scan was not taken till 5 PM. Seeing the delay in treatment in the hospital, Bobocha took his wife to Max Hospital where she was immediately operated.

Internal bleeding in the brain was so heavy that could cost Sumobala’s life if operation was delay for few hours. Sumobala was in the intensive care in the Hospital from March 1 to 24 and she was discharged unduly as Bobocha could not pay the hospital bill which came up to Rs. 3.5 lakhs.

He could manage to pay nearly half of the bill and still has outstanding due of Rs 1.8 lakhs. Through the help of T. Meinya, Honorable Member of Parliament from Manipur, Bobocha managed to get grant of Rs 50,000 from Prime Minister’s fund, which was paid in the favor of Max Hospital adjusted from the outstanding due. The grant from Prime Minister’s fund has only done away with little portion of the outstanding due but nothing is done to his immediate need of medicine and treatment. The condition remains still grime.

Till a month ago, Sumobala almost acted like abnormal but now her condition has become much better, but she lost her memory to read and recognize the alphabetic word. Doctors have indicated the duration of time to recover to normal will take from six months to a year.

Bobocha hails from Haobam Marak, Imphal had education in Manipur and moved to Delhi to work with Pharmacy Chemist company in Noida as manager. Sumobala hails from Shingjamei, Imphal and had graduation in Manipur.

Manipur Students Association Delhi has helped in remarkable manner in helping the couple financially. Individual from far and near has expended helping the couple financially and some by purchasing the medicine. A group of students from Bangalore under the leadership of Romeo Ningombam and Ringo Pebam has collected handsome amount of fund and it was very helpful to purchase medicine. Must more is needed to restore the life of Sumobala.

Therefore, North East Support Centre & Helpline would once again to like run this appeal to generate financial help to support Sumobala up to some extend. We would humble request you to kindly consider extending your helping hand to this need couple.

Would you like to be a part of making different in Sumobala life? If yes, please help! (Kindly tick)
